La Quinta do Muro was designed and built by French architect Pierre-Louis Faloci between 1983 and 1988 who was the recipient of the "L'Equerre d'Argent" award in 1996, the highest French prize for architecture. The house is 1200 square meters and faces south towards the ocean. A stunning property located in the Algarve region of Portugal. It sits on 13 hectares of land and is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Rio Formosa, a protected migratory route for birds. The house is shielded by a laguna, creating a constantly changing landscape with the tides, offering a unique and continuously evolving view.

The property consists of three buildings: Corpo A, Corpo B, and Corpo C. It also features olive and almond groves, an English garden, a vegetable garden, an orchard with a variety of fruit trees, and a lavender field. The house faces south, yet still offers views of these lush gardens and surrounding countryside.

Corpo A

Corpo A is the central building at La Quinta do Muro. On the ground floor, you'll find two drawing rooms, including a media room and a fireplace. There is also a winter dining room and a fully equipped kitchen where you can create your favourite meals. On the north side of the building, you'll find the "Salon de Cafe," a serene space where you can relax in the shade during the summer or enjoy a drink while watching the sunset in the evening.

As you make your way up to the first floor, you'll find two master suites with private bathrooms and terraces overlooking the sea. Each bathroom includes a shower, bathtub, two basins, and a private toilet. The building's basement houses the laundry room and a cellar for storing all of your favourite wines and provisions.

Corpo B

Corpo B is a true oasis of perception and discovery. It comprises four bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and toilet. One of the bedrooms even has a private garden, while another on the first floor boasts a terrace with views of the property's gardens and the surrounding countryside.

In addition to these charming bedrooms, Corpo B also includes a "dormitory" with two single bedrooms, a shower and a private toilet. This is the perfect space for your youngest.

Corpo C

Corpo C is a beautiful and secluded space perfect for intimacy and rest. On the ground floor, you'll find a TV/library room. As you make your way up to the first floor, you'll be greeted by a master bedroom with a private terrace overlooking the sparkling sea. It also includes a children's room, a private bathroom and views of the Zen garden.

You'll find two swimming pools between Corpo A and Corpo C: a square pool perfect for children and a vast rectangular pool facing the sea. There is also a staircase leading down to a sauna and bathroom for guests, complete with a shower.

The Gardens

Lavender fields with curry, rosemary, and thyme are planted facing the sea, offering a beautiful fragrance and stunning visual display. The closed English gardens, filled with roses, stretch along Corpo B in front of the Salon de Cafe. You'll also find a vegetable and kitchen garden and an orchard at the back of Corpo B. For those seeking a serene space, there is a Zen garden with a pavilion located next to Corpo C and a Meditation Deck in the garden. These are the perfect spots to rest, work in the shade, or meditate.

By high tide, you'll need to take a boat or kayak to reach the beach, which has lovely sand and a wild Long Island-style vibe. If you don't feel like walking across at low tide, a fisherman can come and pick you up.
